A fun place for culture, for all ages.
Benidorm is tourism, kilometres of beaches of fine golden sand. Benidorm is the environment, rest and leisure. It is light and fiestas. Benidorm enjoys, all year round, the best microclimate of the European Mediterranean. It is a municipality that long ago was scorned for its location, perfect for pirate assaults. Today however this same location is seen as being strategic to say the least, it is modern, complete city, in regards of infrastructures and services, which lives through its festivities and shares its privileges with anyone that decides to visit.
The wealth and variety of Benidorm's gastronomy has been achieved thanks to a process of assimilating the influences that both ancestors and other civilisations have had on the local cuisine. Thus, international cuisine, the culinary traditions inherited from the Arabs, the legacy of the merchant sailors, and the typical fishing recipes, when added to the products of the surrounding cultivated land, create an extraordinary list of specialities. The "arroz caldoso" (rice with stock of mullet and pumpkin), "cazuela de pescado al estilo pobre" (fish casserole of ‘poor' style), the "arroz de boquerones con espinacas" (anchovy rice with spinach) and the "pebrot", are some of the local dishes. Sweet dishes include "coca rellena" (stuffed sponge), the "pastelitos de boniato" (sweet potato pastries) or the "bollo de San Blás" (the San Blas bun).
The sea front of Benidorm is characterised all year round by the fine, golden sands and clear waters of its well-cared for beaches. The two small, sand and rock coves that lie to the north are ideal for diving or a quiet swim. Escaleta point marks the start of the bustling promenade and the crowded Levante beach whose full facilities and lively atmosphere make it so popular all year round. Poniente beach to the south of the port competes with the attractiveness and facilities of Levante. The orientation of these beaches is such that they both receive sunlight until sunset in winter, and until after 8pm in summer. In the section between them running parallel to the old town centre and sheltered by mount Canfali lies the small cove of Mal Pas opposite the Isle of Benidorm, a paradise for diving enthusiasts. In addition to its well-known and excellent range of leisure activities, Benidorm has plenty of sports facilities with a sailing school in the club and several international diving centres thanks to the lush and interesting seabed around the Isle of Benidorm which has been declared a marine nature reserve.
Terra Mítica in Benidorm, is the only theme park in Europe. Incredible attractions and shows turns this park into a fascinating place where time does not exist. You can live the mysteries of the most ancient and legendary civilisations in the Mediterranean by visiting the five areas which make up the park: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and The Islands. The park is aimed at all publics, regardless of their age or precedence, as long as they are interested in having fun. All visitors, whether daring or curious, are offered a wide range of attractions and shows together with catering services and shops. The sun, the beaches and the complete tourist offer of Benidorm and the Costa Blanca make up this incomparable environment where this park is situated.
